Who are we?

What is VET and RTO?

Vocational Education Training (VET) is a type of training that delivers Nationally Recognised Training throughout Australia. One of the many great things about VET based learning is that it is competency based. Therefore there are no 'grades', it's simply Competent or Not Yet Competent.

VET based learning can result in two outcomes - a 'Unit of Competency' which is a single unit within a subject area, or a 'Qualification' which can be a Certificate, Diploma etc. Any training that you complete within the VET sector is automatically recorded on a National Register and can contribute to further education.

Why is VET based learning important? Because all competency results from one course can be used to contribute to a qualification. Some qualifications (Certificate IV and above) can be used as entry into University. Nationally Recognised Training means that your results can be used Australia wide. This is the difference between doing a VET course or completing a generic course.

Tactic Learning is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) located in Perth, WA and is part of the VET system within Australia.  We comply with the requirements of the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) and are part of the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) family. In simple terms - Tactic Learning is the private equivalent of a TAFE and is able to offer you quality in your training solutions. What this means for you, is that you can be guaranteed that you will be provided with quality training and assessment that complies with ASQA Standards. You will also have access to qualified and experienced trainers and assessors that will be able to help you gain your chosen qualification.

We deliver the training in many ways. By doing this, you're able to have options that are suitable to your own style.

We use a combination of the one or more of the following methods:

  • eLearning. Using an online learning management system, we provide you with content for your studies that is accessible 24/7 allowing you to read and revisit the information as much as needed.

  • Videos. If you're a visual learner - then this allows you to absorb the information in a visually appealing way.

  • Podcasts. Like to listen? Have some time on the train or in the car? Even when going for a walk - using audio fits into your schedule.

  • Activities and excursions - Using your hands to explore, or using your feet to visit new places can enhance your learning

Whatever is your preferred method - we can be sure to have an option that works for you.

All Tactic Learning assessments uphold the principles of fairness, flexibility, validity and reliability in all assessments. The objective of assessment is for the student to show that they have achieved the unit’s requirements. Students may be assessed by one or more of the following methods:

  • eLearning - by completing learning and assessment in our online environment, you are able to complete a certain % of each unit.

  • Observation – the trainer will observe you completing the skills required. We use a detailed checklist to make sure everything is covered.

  • Oral questioning – the trainer may question your understanding of the subject matter. We also listen to your answers in class to make sure you're on the right track.

  • Case study – sometimes we give you a fake scenario for you to work through. This allows us to see your ability to problem solve.

  • Written answers– a written response item consisting of a question/s with answers.

  • Project – a group of tasks that you will need to complete after the workshop. These projects allow you to put your new skills into practice.

We will always talk you through your assessments. Please ask questions if you're unsure. These assessments are not 'exams' and they are not there to cause stress - it's simply a way for us to know you have learnt the skills and knowledge required for your certificate.

Your program is made up of modules (subjects) and each module is made up of different components that need to be completed to finish the program successfully. To access all of the different areas of training, you must have access to the internet and an email address.
